Francis O'Neill Irish Arts Week Kids Day Camp

July 22-26, 2024 (9am - 12pm)

The Irish Music School of Chicago’s Francis O’Neill Irish Arts Camp is presented by and at the Irish American Heritage Center.

Immerse your kids in the wonderful culture of Ireland for one fun week!

Kids ages 4-11 can have a blast learning all about Irish cultural traditions at our famous kids day camp! This amazing week will introduce them to a wide range of Irish arts learning with some of the best traditional Irish musicians and educators all while having some great summertime fun!

All campers will learn traditional Irish music on their choice of fiddle or tin whistle and all campers will learn to play out rhythms on the bodhrán.  In addition, campers will learn Irish songs, Lilting, Sean-nós Dancing, Body Percussion, Irish Language (Gaeilge), and Celtic Arts and Crafts.

Francis O’Neill Irish Arts Week cements Chicago’s historic position as a stronghold of traditional Irish music. Named in honor of Captain Francis O’Neill, the Chief of the Chicago Police from 1901-1905, the week is dedicated to his legacy as the primary preservationist of traditional Irish music through his careful and prolific annotation of tunes. Without the work of Captain O’Neill, much of traditional Irish music would have been lost.

A big thank you to our 2024 sponsors & partners:
